A practical look at Aquila’s payments, treasury, securities and reconciliation platform, and what banks visiting Sibos Miami 2026 should ask about on stand DISM38.
Sibos has a way of turning even the most focused delegate into someone sprinting between stands with a lanyard full of half remembered conversations. With hundreds of vendors competing for fifteen minutes of your week, it is worth being honest about which conversations are actually going to matter once you are back at your desk. If you are running payments, treasury, securities or reconciliation for a bank of any size, we think stand DISM38 is one of those conversations.
A platform built around a problem you already have
Most banks today are not short of ambition when it comes to modernising their infrastructure. What they are usually short of is the appetite for a multi year, core replacing programme to get there. Aquila was built on the belief that a bank should not have to rip out a working core banking system just to bring its messaging, payments and reconciliation into the present. It sits alongside whatever core you already run, whether that is Finastra, Oracle Flexcube, Temenos or something else entirely, and lets you modernise the layer that actually causes the pain without touching the layer underneath it.
That single idea runs through everything we will be showing at Sibos this year, so it is worth understanding what sits under the Aquila name before you walk over.
What you will actually see on the stand
Aquila is not a single product wearing several names. It is a genuinely modular suite, and most conversations at Sibos tend to focus on whichever piece is causing the most friction back home.
Messaging sits at the centre of it, giving banks one place to manage inward and outward SWIFT MT and MX traffic, route it intelligently, and handle exceptions before they become incidents. Payments builds on that same foundation to automate inward and outward processing, including SWIFT gpi and Universal Confirmations, without the manual repair work that tends to creep into legacy setups. Treasury and securities processing bring the same real time matching and control to instruments and confirmations that are too often still reconciled by hand at the end of the day. And reconciliations, matching and reporting ties the whole picture together, giving operations teams a single source of truth across SWIFT, internal formats and bespoke feeds, rather than a spreadsheet stitched together at 6pm.
If your bank still relies on translation tools to bridge ISO 20022 and legacy MT formats, or a patchwork of systems with limited visibility between them, this is the part of the conversation worth having.
The initiatives shaping the conversation this year
Beyond the platform itself, a few industry shifts are worth raising while you are at the stand, because they tend to be exactly what is keeping payments and operations leaders awake at night.
Swift Case Management becomes compulsory in November 2027, and while that might feel comfortably far away, the banks having the most productive conversations with us right now are the ones starting early rather than treating it as next year’s problem. Aquila’s incident management capability, including automated handling of camt.110 and camt.111 messages, is built with exactly that mandate in mind.
T+1 settlement continues to put pressure on securities operations to close the gap between trade and settlement, and the G20’s cross border payment goals are quietly reshaping what “good” looks like for speed, cost and transparency in international payments. Both are shifting the baseline for what banks need their infrastructure to do, not just what it needs to avoid breaking.
The November 2026 deadline that had been circulating for structured address adoption has been pushed back, and a new date has not yet been confirmed. That does not change the underlying direction of travel. Native ISO 20022 processing remains the more resilient, better quality way to handle structured data, and Aquila’s architecture was built around that from the start. It simply means there is no need to treat this particular date as the reason to act. There are, as it happens, plenty of better ones.
Come and find us
None of this is really about persuading you that Aquila is the answer to everything. It is about giving you a genuinely useful fifteen minutes if any of the above sounds familiar. We will be on stand DISM38 for the full four days of Sibos, and would rather have one focused conversation about the problem you actually have than a dozen generic ones about problems you do not.
